New Baldur’s Gate Content To Be Written By Forgotten Realms Writer
When the Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was announced, there was much rejoicing throughout the land. Not only because if successful it could trigger the creation of brand new Baldur’s Gate entries, but because it will feature the original team returning to create some brand new content for insertion into the original game‘s story.
While we still don’t know precisely how much new content there’ll be, we have a better idea of what it might look like thanks to the announcement yesterday that Dave Gross, former Polyhedron Newszine Editor and overseer of a few D&D magazines has been hired to write it. Gross’ biggest claim to faim is having written several Forgotten Realms books. Forgotten Realms is one of the more popular D&D settings, having spawned Neverwinter and of course, it’s where Baldur’s Gate is set. Gross penned 8 novels in the setting, making him very qualified for the job.
As VG 24/7 points out, he’s also kind of funny. In a press release, he said of the gig “I was sitting in a coffee shop complaining about the lack of classic RPGs for the iPad when [Beamdog boss Trent Oster] appeared in a sulphurous cloud and said, ‘Have I got a job for you!”
