The original MotorStorm was a game that set the bar for visuals in a next gen racer (simultaneously setting the bar for how to sell an incomplete game for $60), and we can only assume that MotorStorm 2 will try to take things in the graphical fidelity department up another notch. I say assume because the game’s first trailer (watch it here) doesn’t contain one ounce of actual gameplay footage. Instead, it looks like similar to the target video we saw for the original game some years back – which is to say it looks really pretty.
If you watched the video, you’ll know the major difference is that the game is now taking place on a tropical island, rather than another barren desert. As previously reported, the game will feature 4-player split-screen play, which was a much-requested feature with the first game. You’ll be able to play with up to 16 players online, with the game containing 16 new tracks – which will be multi-route tracks, as you’d expect from a MotorStorm sequel.
Monster trucks will be a new vehicle class, which should definitely be cool to play around with. I can’t wait to run some people over online.
