New FIFA 12 Screens Show Realistic Renders, Tough Tackles

The Champion’s League final is tomorrow. E3 is just around the corner. High time, in other words, for EA to reveal some new screenshots for FIFA 12, the forthcoming installment of their widely-popular, Pro Evo-deposing soccer franchise.

Many of the sport’s biggest stars are on display in the pictures below, but it’s the highly-touted “Player Impact Engine” that EA is really showing off. Realistic physics have formed a core part of FIFA’s ascendancy in recent years, and the Impact Engine promises to continue that trend, depicting the physical battles between players of different sizes and strengths with increased responsiveness and fidelity.

When the hulking figure of Didier Drogba tries to push diminutive Jack Wilshere off the ball, FIFA 12′s designers will attempt to ensure that the ensuing tussle resembles real life as much as possible — with a win, presumably, for the big Ivorian. When the game hits shelves this fall, FIFA addicts will no doubt feel the Impact.
