New Final Fantasy XIV Video Showcases Questing & Combat

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV‘s A Realm Reborn reboot that showcases low-level enemies as well as mouse-enabled actions and targeting.

Level progression in the game will be primarily quest-based, which sounds like a potential reduction in standard MMO grind. The game’s battle system is currently undergoing significant revision, including changes to “all damage algorithms and the claim system.”

Looks like we’re looking at a more action-oriented MMO, similar to TERA.

What do you think? Will this be a winner, or an unwelcome addition in an overcrowded genre? Are you willing to look past certain shortcomings in order to play a Final Fantasy MMO?

Well it looks good and you can finally jump in a Final Fantasy game; both positives. . .

However it looks a lot more like World of Warcraft combat wise then FFXIV originally did and I’m just so sick of WoW’s standard being applied to every MMO.

When are we going to get a Massive Multiplayer Action Adventure style game where I don’t have cool-downs on abilities and it relies more on skill?
