New Rage AMD Drivers Available Now

The promised new drivers for those of us to have an AMD video card and Rage have arrived, and you can get them now here. While these drivers help with the problem of texture pop-in, they don’t completely solve it, as I’ve seen it happen regularly since installing the drivers, albeit to a lesser degree than before. It also didn’t help me with screen tearing, but turning “wait for vertical refresh” to “always on” in the Catalyst Control Center cleared that up nicely.

Good luck.

Rage probably ships with vsync disabled by default. Given the spartan menu the game ships with, you’re going to have to resort to ‘manual’ methods of getting it toggled on (for now). Forcing it in the driver is one way.

You could try the old OpenGL CVAR method. Adding this after your shortcut could produce the desired results:

+cvaradd r_swapinterval 1

or if you have the console enabled, just typing ‘r_swapinterval 1′ (without the quotes) does the same thing.

If it doesn’t work, that probably means id made it a protected CVAR. I also hear editing .cfgs is pretty fruitless too right now. What the hell, id?

There are also 3rd party tools, like Rivatuner/Afterburner, out there that can force vsync on.

What a mess. It’s like Brink launch week all over again.
