New Relic RTS Will Be Announced in August

If you read through our preview of Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War II – Retribution, you should have a good idea of how I feel about Relic’s strategy titles. As such, you shouldn’t be surprised at how excited I am to hear that they’re going to be announcing a new title later this year.

According to a tweet by THQ Executive Vice President Danny Bilson, we can look for an announcement in August.

The big announce for the next Relic RTS should come in August…that’s the plan.

To be quite honest, I’m hoping that that this will be the reveal of where the Company of Heroes series is going. With the recent announcement that Company of Heroes Online was closing down, the WWII strategy series is kind of in limbo. Since it’s one of my favorite games of all time, I’d love to hear that there’s a sequel in the works., but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I really hope CoH 2 is set in somewhere OTHER than ww2, so sick of ww2 games, yet CoH was one of the best RTS’s i’ve ever played (beautiful physics engine :) . Hope it’s Korean civil war, or Vietnam, or even Chinese civil war (the 1920′s to 1950′s one, not any of the others ¬_¬).

Korean war is an interesting idea. I dont believe thats ever been covered by an RTS let alone a FPS to my knowledge. Forgotten war indeed.

They should make ww2 in the pacific, with ships as HQ and stuff like that :) Japan vs. USA! And awesome graphics.

As long as there is a campaign, content, polish, and elements of combat realism/strategy (even if it’s ww2), I’m in. Though I’m not interested in an MMO/monthly fee RTS. Be nice to see flight battles or naval battles covered. I’d also like to see battle formations and moral. Truth be known, if Relic kept releasing CoH additions and improving the graphics and game play slightly with each release I’d probably play all the major theaters they’d produce.(And if you’re still waiting for something new and having played a good RTS lately, try the LOTR Battle for Middle Earth II campaign..er Anthology–cause of the bug fixes)
