New Screenshots of The Club

The ClubFirst rule of The Club is no one talks about The Club.

Bizarre Creations, the guys behind the mega-hit titles Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars, have released 20 new screenshots of their Running Man meets Gladiator meets Battle Royale inspired shoot-em up arcade-like game The Club. This developing title has been relatively low key so far; however, I have a feeling that will change here real soon. The Club will also be a break from the norm for Bizarre Creations as they are normally known for their racing games. Here’s a description straight from the developer’s website:

Primarily a score-based game, The Club is Bizarre’s take on the third person shooter. The gameplay is fast paced and very arcadey; don’t even think about hiding behind cover in this one folks! A unique new scoring system asks you to chain kills together in quick succession, building up your combo and grabbing you more points. The higher your combo the faster the bar ticks down, so it gets tougher and tougher to continue your deadly killing spree.

To keep your score high you’ll need to burst into rooms of enemies with all guns blazing; the combo system pushing you further and further to your limit. However, don’t take too long dispatching your target or your score will drop. If there are 30 bad guys in the level, that’s potentially a 30x combo you could earn… practice, practice, practice!

Sounds a wee bit like Stranglehold, no? Stranglehold with a twist. I’ve got a feeling games like these will be madly popular due to their crazy non-stop arcade action. We could very well be seeing a floodgate opening here soon. So check out the screenshots below and visit Bizarre’s website for more info.

Score bases systems can be interesting. It’s hard to do well. PN03 did this where a timer would start and reset after each kill, upping your points for each successive kill you got before each timer ran out. I personally loved the game, but many couldn’t stomach the bizarre controls. Maybe, if this game has more traditional 3rd person controls it will fair better.
