New Servers Now Open in Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is back online this morning after last night’s maintenance, and with it comes three new servers that Square Enix hopes will alleviate the major congestion issues that have plagued the MMORPG since its launch last Tuesday. Still, with a rush to play on the new worlds expected today, the studio said it will enforce tight login and character creation restrictions.
Posting on the official FFXIV homepage, Square announced that three new worlds have been added: Famfrit in North America, Pandemonium in Japan, and Lich in Europe. Square also changed the way matching occurs in Duty Finder and Duty-related worlds, allowing for a sizable increase in the number of simultaneous user logins. In short, many of the paying customers who have been locked out of A Realm Reborn since launch should now find it much easier to get in and play. Others, however, will not:
“In the time period just after maintenance has completed, we predict a rush of characters logging in simultaneously,” Square Enix stated. “In order to prevent any technical difficulties due to this login rush, we will be temporarily placing severe login restrictions. These login restrictions may occur frequently, lasting from a few minutes to ten minutes; however, restrictions will be lifted in a gradual manner as login status is carefully monitored. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.”
The studio added that it will monitor the situation in real-time, and it is prepared to add new servers based on demand. We’ll keep you posted.
