New Sims 3 Trailer Makes No Sense

To be fair, The Sims in general doesn’t make much sense. Still, none of them were ever advertised with a virtual person sneaking into a house, stealing candy from a baby, and then spontaneously growing fatter and laughing about her crime. I’m not sure what the idea behind this trailer is except to show just how ridiculous you can make your Sims behave in this third installment of the series. That, and to lead into the mis-quoted phrase, “More fun than stealing candy from a baby.” Whoever came up with that has clearly never tried to take candy away from a youngster before. Trust me, it’s not worth the ear-piercing screams that come later.

The trailer made me giggle. It made sense to me. It showed just how much more interactive the game is compared to its predecessors. Before today, I’d never seen just how detailed the environments were. The overall vibe I got was…intimate. We’re following the thief as she’s tiptoeing through the house, and we’re treated to intimate looks into the Sims’ private lives and that gives us an idea of how different and new Sims 3 is.

The act of stealing candy from babies and its moral implications doesn’t really bother me all that much, but then I don’t play video games just for philosophy.

This looks exactly like Sims 2.

Wow, I was actually a bit creeped out by the trailer. Doesnt make me want to play the game at all, unless I want to act out my illegal-entry-baby-harassing- voyeuristic tendencies and then go back to my pathetic shack of a house for some lonely me time…
