New The Order: 1886 Trailer Goes Dark
The second trailer for one of the more promising PlayStation 4 exclusives, The Order: 1886, has arrived and I’m officially pinning the label of “teaser” on it.
Watch for yourself above and you’ll find that it’s mostly just dark. Not dark as in there is a sense of foreboding, there is a bit of that, but dark in that there is very little light so you can actually see what’s going on.
Some odd choices, particularly after we already saw more in the debut trailer (watch below), but we’ve still got many months to go before The Order arrives. And thanks to numerous interviews the devs at Ready at Dawn have given since The Order’s E3 2013 debut, we actually know much more than is even slightly hinted at here.
For example: King Arthur and his knights of the round table started The Order. They didn’t just spread chivalry, they battled the forces of evil. They discovered and used some sort of mystical fluid, that stuff seen in the amulet at the outset of the trailer, and it granted them incredible healing abilities and long life. The Order continued its fight across the centuries, hence 1886 and Victorian era England, where a new group of knights does battle with the weapons of the day.
It’s an interesting League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-type spin on the Arthurian legend and it’s definitely one to watch — particularly if you’re a PS4 early adopter waiting on games to play. The Order: 1886 is also now officially up for pre-order if you’re so inclined.
