New York Times Chimes in about LOTR Online

There’s quite a lengthy review full of interesting tidbits about Lord of the Rings Online over at The New York, for all those who care to give it a run through. And even if you’re already at level 40, it’s always interesting to read a bit of background on the game.

In essence, they say that the developers at Turbine Inc. got it right. “It could have gone so wrong. So badly, horribly, terribly wrong …” said a editor. “The much-loved world of Middle-earth, mutilated beyond recognition by the clumsy hand of a developer who needed to bludgeon Tolkien’s narrative into a leveling grind.”

Will the Tolkien tale catch as many gamers as World of Warcraft?

Why have I not heard of this? Have I been living under a rock? Well, you can bet your sweet balrog that I WILL be getting in on this ASAP. Forget WOW. I am a Tolkien nerd from way back. Sorry Demonseed… you will have to wait for me to grace your guild.
