Next Guild Wars 2 Update Brings Trouble to Twilight Arbor

The team at ArenaNet certainly keep themselves busy. The result is a ton of content for Guild Wars 2, and even more is on the way October 1 via the Twilight Assault update.

While the upcoming update centers around trouble within Tyria’s Twilight Arbor, I like to think it’s also an attack on Stephenie Meyers godawful vampire romance series. Anywho, here’s what’s going on in Twilight Assault:

Lionguard intelligence reports have been pouring in regarding suspicious activities in the Twilight Arbor! Nightmare Courtiers are still pursuing their dark agenda, but now it seems like Scarlet is hatching some new plot as well. The sylvari hero Caithe is troubled by these rumors and has put out a call for heroes to put a stop to Scarlet’s machinations! It’ll take a daring group, armed with sharpened wits and blades, to infiltrate Twilight Arbor and put a stop to the mischief that’s afoot.

The update comes packing the new event, a new level-80 path, new achievement rewards, exotic weapons, and more. You have to love the quantity and quality of updates Guild Wars 2 has with no subscription fee, it really sets the bar high for other MMO’s. It must be quite embarrassing for all those subscription based MMO’s charging monthly with updates around every six months.

Personally I am not a fan of dungeons, which this content seems to be, but I am fine with it as two weeks later we will have a new content update that undoubtedly will cover a different aspect of the game.

I am looking forward to the Halloween update, the return of the Mad King!

The developers need to stop ignoring PvP. Structured PvP is amazing, but control point matches are so played out. We’ve been asking when new match archetypes would be implemented since the first beta weekend last Summer. Still nothing.

I realize balancing classes for a new PvP modes is time consuming, but beyond that when you compare the quantity of non-PvP content released there could have been significant additions to PvP.

We? I never asked for anything PvP related, I never even stepped into the mists.

That said PvP is very well taken care of and not ignored at all, 3 new PvP maps, solo queues, spectator mode, custom arenas, leaderboards, dishonored system, multiple permanent finishers continuing map updates and other things that I miss because I do not play PvP. This all not even including the many additions to the alternate PvP WvW.

I happily admit I am a PvE player and do not know what is wanted for PvP, but judging by the quantity and quality of updates in just a single year I have no doubt your much loved PvP is in safe hands.
