EA Sports announced today that they have chosen the cover athlete for NHL 08, and the lucky winner is Eric Staal. The 2007 World Champion Gold Medal winner plays for the Carolina Hurricanes and led his team to victory in the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship â$” Staal has been with the Hurricanes for four seasons.
NHL 08 is being developed for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC and has brought a few changes to what fans have become accustomed to with the franchise. Better gameplay and control is what they are touting with enhanced analog speed control on the ice, a new skating engine, expanded skill stick and deking systems, along with team expansions thanks to the AHL License for the NHL.
No details on a release date were forthcoming, but if the game looks as good as these screens, it will be gorgeous whether you like hockey or not – and how often do the words sports and gorgeous go hand in hand? No, I do not consider female mud-wrestling a legitimate sport and nether should you.
