Nintendo 3DS NES Games Will Be Multiplayer
3DS owners and detractors alike have of course been somewhat stewing over the news that the not-as-successful-as-it-should-have-been handheld is getting a tremendous price drop. Nintendo softened that blow, somewhat, by announcing that original NES games and Gameboy Advance games will shortly be available on the 3DS store, and that so-called ‘early adopters’, AKA suckers who paid full price, will be getting 20 free games of their choice, 10 from each platform. Good! Ish!
More details have emerged about the upcoming 3DSified NES titles. Apparently, Nintendo will be making them a bit sweeter than simple nostalgia – they’ll have multiplayer functionality. IGN spoke to a Nintendo rep and receieved this statement:
When the NES games become available to the general public later this year, they will include additional features such as multiplayer simultaneous play
That’s actually pretty cool. Of course, we don’t yet know which NES games will be available on 3DS, but that won’t stop me from speculating. Can we expect co-op SMB? Multiplayer Double Dragon? Who knows! But at least it looks we’ll be able to finally do something with our 3DS. So word to that.
