Nintendo Announces 3DS Announcement

Nintendo hasn’t dropped a release date for its upcoming 3DS, but did announce when an announcement will take place: Sept. 29.

That’s when pricing information and a release date will be made public, according to Nintendo spokesperson Yasushi Hiroshi Minagawa in a report from MTV Multiplayer.

The report suggests the 3DS could show up around March 2011, but really it’s all speculation. But 2011 makes sense, seeing as Nintendo hasn’t really started marketing the handheld, and is still trying to figure out exactly how to do that.

Price, also, is tough to guess at, seeing as the 3DS is going to do all kinds of stuff: including functioning as an e-reader and jacking into wireless hotspots automatically. Nobody knows what Nintendo is going to think all that stuff is worth.

But at least, now we know when we’ll know, since Nintendo was kind enough to tell us when they’ll be telling us.
