Nintendo Confirms 16 3DS Launch Titles

We already heard that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Kid Icarus wouldn’t be available for the launch of the Nintendo 3DS. The question was what would be available, and whether or not it would be enough to drive day one sales.

Well, Nintendo has announced a list of sixteen titles that will launch alongside their new handheld on March 27. Here’s the list:

  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Steel Diver
  • nintendogs +Cats
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
  • The Sims 3
  • Madden NFL Football
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
  • RIDGE RACER 3D
  • Super Monkey Ball 3D
  • BUST-A-MOVE UNIVERSE
  • SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles
  • Asphalt 3D
  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • Rayman 3D
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Shadow Wars

To be honest, there’s not a lot there commands my interest. It is a good mix of casual and hardcore, but the key first party titles, like Kid Icarus, Zelda, StarFox and Mario kart are all coming later this year. I doubt this will hurt their sales in the least, though. People have been waiting to snap this thing up since E3 last year.
