Nintendo To Finally Support DLC on 3DS and Wii U

For the most part, Nintendo’s platforms are way behind the times in one important way: you can’t get DLC for games on any Nintendo system. That’s about to change. At Nintendo’s earnings briefing in Tokyo last week, one investor asked about possibly allowing for DLC in the future, and Satoru Iwata replied by saying that the 3DS will allow developers to publish paid DLC for games later this year, and that the Wii U will also have this function.

While amazingly late to the DLC party, it’s good that they at least finally recognized the need for it on their platforms. I’m guessing they decided to jump n the DLC bandwagon because the WII U will have many games that will also be published on other platforms with DLC, and nobody would buy the Wii U version of a game if that’s the only one where you can’t get DLC, I would think.

Nickel and dime us just like Sony and MS, wonderful.

Then again I guess they need to make up the money they’re loosing on the 3DS somehow.
