Nintendo Unveils 3DS XL

Is bigger better? In the case of the 3DS, Nintendo thinks so. During this week’s Nintendo Direct Conference, the company introduced a larger version of its 3DS handheld: the 3DS XL.

The 3DS XL’s top screen measures 4.88 inches, with its second coming in at 4.18 inches. Compare that to the first-gen’s 3.53-inch top screen and 3.02-inch bottom screen, and it becomes obvious why this new handheld has received the XL suffix.

Apart from the bigger screen, the XL will have a longer battery life, at 6.5 hours of playtime per charge — depending on brightness, of course — and a 4GB SD card.
