No Cross-Platform MMOs for Nintendo

green-wii.jpgWouldn’t it be nice for all console players to be able to come together under the name of one mmorpg? If you don’t have a Nintendo Wii, it might be a possibility.

But Nintendo just isn’t okay with the co-mingling of consoles.

“It will be pretty difficult if you were to cross-platform [with the Wii] for a couple reasons,” Hiromichi Tanaka, Senior Vice President for Enix, said. “One is that Nintendo’s currently not allowing different cross-platform titles, and as you know, the resolution differences make it harder for us to make cross-platform games. Currently we’re not looking at Nintendo Wii as a platform.”

Open your arms Nintendo. Keep up with the innovation. But the good news for everyone else is that Square has something up its sleeve that is sure to surprise and delight.

Resolution Differences my ass…if a game comes out on 360, PS3, and Wii, that never made a difference, only thing would be visual quality and everyone knows you didn’t get a Wii for visuals, you got it for the Projectile, I should know. Hearing that the Wii version of GH3 may not have online play is a sign that Nintendo is a bit like an (forgive the mean that is this) Inbred family, they don’t take kindly to outsiders.

Cross-platform games will bring about the inevitable fanboy flamewars, and of course, make Wii look bad.

I’d rather Wii gets unique games than getting ports of games I’d have otherwise gotten for my 360 or PS3.
