No Psychonauts 2 in the Works

Man, I hate it when I’m right sometimes. Earlier today, the internet was abuzz with rumors that a new Psychonauts project was in the works, due to a shadowy logo on Double Fine’s website with the words “Coming Soon” across it. Many people supposed a new port of the game was coming, but most hoped for a direct sequel to the critically-acclaimed platformer. Well, CEO Tim Schafer has just shot those rumors down by clarifying that the image was meant to simply announce a new section of the website dedicated to the original Psychonauts game:

“Man, who knew how much excitement a little darkness could bring? The truth is we are just putting together a new page about ‘The Excellent Game Psychonauts.’ We’re not announcing any new games or anything. Sorry if we confused anybody! We lightened up the image to hopefully make things clearer.”

I kind of saw this one coming, but still, dang. Oh well, at least Brutal Legend’s been announced to satiate my Tim Schafer fix for awhile.

Well, why would they put up a new page on psychonauts when it’s been out so long? They’re planning something.

A re-release would be nice. Psychonauts is one of the most underrated games. I did see an add for the next project Brütal Legend in a resent magazine. It’s billed as an action adventure game centered around a roadie Eddie Riggs who is transported into a heavy metal past. Jack Black is voicing Eddie and Rob Halford, Lemmy and Ronnie James Dio are supposed to be involved too. It sounded like a lot fun and I like the the art direction.
