North Korea and Kim Jong-Un Modded Into Civilization V

Talking about North Korea is all the rage these days—at least, it’s in the news because the authoritarian country is threatening to nuke its southern neighbor to kingdom come and plunge the whole world into a nuclear holocaust.

Sometimes referred to as the Hermit Kingdom, the country has since inspired a player to create a mod for Civilization V which puts North Korea and its slightly chubby leader Kim Jong-Un into the game as a fully playable faction. The mod is surprisingly well crafted, including its own civiliopedia entries, unique abilities, units and buildings.

It’s downloadable through the Steam Workshop and requires the base game and the Gods and Kings expansion pack to work. Grab it here.

Here’s a run-down of what it includes:

Unique Ability: (Nuclear Bully) Unit maintenance cost reduced by 33%, Uranium resources doubled. Length of golden ages reduced by 10%.

Unique Unit: Koksan – Replaces the Artillery. +23 Combat Strength, +30 Ranged Strength, must set up prior to firing.

Unique Buildings: Juche Tower – Replaces Hermitage. +5 Culture, +50% Culture, provides 1 free social policy.
Pyongyang Military Academy – Replaces the Military Academy. +15 XP to naval, land, and air units, +1 Culture

Additionally, if you have the Korean DLC installed, the mod will change all references from Korea to South Korea.

Although I suppose if it’s as well crafted and realistic as that, every unit just starves to death after twenty seconds.
