Not Be Outdone By COD XP, The Battlefield 3 Tournament Has a 1.6 Mil Prize Pool

The battle between the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises just got real, quite literally. Recently, Call of Duty XP featured a tournament with a 1 million dollar prize pool and a grand prize of $400,000 for the winning team. Nice! But much like fans who know Battlefield is just better than COD, EA’s upcoming Battlefield 3 tournament aims to overshadow COD XP with a 1.6 million prize pool. YEAH, GAMING CAT FIGHT ERRYONE!

Sadly, the BF3 tournament, set for sometime in early 2012, will be open only to Xbox and PS3 players, not to PC players. SADFACE! Even so, that’s a lot of scratch, especially for a console-only tournament. Supposedly, Virgin Gaming, EA Sport’s official tournament provider and host of the BF3 tournament, promises upwards of 3.5 Million Euros distributed through game tournaments in 2012 alone. You can find out more here. Of course, we all know what this means: Next year’s COD XP will feature a battle to the death between Richard Branson and Bobby Kotick.
