Not Likely We’ll See Red Dead Redemption on PC

With the news that LA Noire is headed to PC, many PC gamers had one big question to ask Rockstar: Where’s Red Dead Redemption for PC?

Rockstar hasn’t completely ruled out a PC version of the game, but in a statement on their website, they did all but that. Here’s the statement:

We hope that with the announcement that L.A. Noire is coming to PC this fall, and the knowledge that our next big game Max Payne 3 will have a PC release (plus that we’ve released both Grand Theft Auto IV and the Episodes from Liberty City for PC), we can finally put to rest any misconceptions that we’ve ‘abandoned the PC platform’. We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans – that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we’re well aware that some fans have been asking for it.

All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms. To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you’ll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy.

So, if you’re waiting for Rockstar’s Western action epic to land on PC, you might be out of luck. It’s a little sad, but at least you’re got LA Noire and Max Payne 3 to look forward to.

But I dont’ care about LA Noire or Max Payne 3.

I want RDR.

I do wonder if Rockstar is run by complete idiots.

They claim to support the PC, yet insist on putting a year spacer between the console and PC releases.

How is it not viable to relase RDR on PC like a month after now?

The game IS done (everything except for DLC which could easily be ported as they come out) so the development cost should be very low.

And ecnomonics wise when is it ever NOT viable to earn MORE money?

Then again they may just be holding out to get all the DLCs out and then release a mass packaged edition for all 3 platforms (really if they dont… well, my wallet will be a little fuller and theres will be a little emptier)

Rockstar…. I’ve boycotted them personally and vocally ever since this decision.
