Notch: Minecraft PC Over 14 Million Copies Sold

With that Twitter post over the weekend, Mojang’s Markus “Notch” Persson revealed that the PC version of Minecraft has surpassed 14 million copies sold.

The crazy thing is, that’s not even half of Minecraft’s total sales. In December, Microsoft’s Major Nelson revealed the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft topped 10 million in sales. That followed Mojang’s April 2013 announcement that 10 million copies of Minecraft Pocket Edition have also been sold.

That puts total Minecraft sales at more than 34 million, and that doesn’t include a single copy of Minecraft for the PlayStation 3, which finally launched in December. Oh, and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are in the works.

The question now is, with 0×1016 shelved, what will Notch do for an encore. You know, when he’s not mining his pixelated blocks of money.
