Now EA Owns Battlelog Dev. Ho Ho Ho.
Electronic Arts has acquired another
victim subsidiary, Battlelog developer ESN. Battlelog, for those of you who don’t know, is a stat-tracking and social system for Battlefield 3 on PC. The company will now join the ranks of BioWare, Westwood, and Maxis in what will surely be a prosperous and fruitful partnership. In the official announcement, ESN was rather upbeat about what it means:
“We couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity and the team is looking forward to focus all of its energy on DICE, Battlelog and the Battlefield series,” the statement said. “As we’re teaming up with EA and DICE, we are looking for more talented developers and designers to join our studio and help create some of the best online game services out there.”
The official announcement leads with the fact that ESN is joining ‘the EA family’. Which is accurate because if there’s one thing families do, it’s tear apart its members until they no longer look remotely like they did before joining, at which point divorce. BAZINGA! I keed, I keed. I for one can’t wait to see what exciting projects the ESN team has in store once they have either quit of have been laid off.
