NPD Report: Borderlands 2 Launch Month Sales Up 234% Over BL1

According to a report from market research company NPD, Borderlands 2 has sold 1.48 million retail copies in the US this September, a 234% increase from its prequel’s launch month in 2009.

Posted on NeoGaf, the report also reveals that Madden NFL 13 sold over one million more copies than BL2, topping the September 2012 sales chart and beating the Gearbox sequel to the number one spot on the chart.

The NPD still doesn’t count digital sales, however, and while this is entirely speculation on my part, it would not surprise me if BL2 came much closer to NFL 13 than these numbers would have us believe if we were to factor in digital sales.
