NVIDIA: PC Games Sales To Surpass Console Games Sales By 2014

I feel like I start up a lot of posts by saying, “So this is interesting,” and so I won’t say this is interesting. Instead, I’ll say this is awesome.

Here’s a graph from NVIDIA.

As you can see, that graph predicts that the gap between PC and console games sales will continue to decrease until PC overtakes consoles in 2014.

It’s a thought. It assumes, of course, that conditions will stay the same and that new consoles, one or more of which will undoubtedly street by 2014, won’t change the game enough to prevent this from happening. But it’s an interesting thing to watch, certainly.

Interesting trend considering there is soooooo much more piracy (allegedly)on the PC Platform. Just think how those number would look if say the PC had more blockbuster titles such as the more recent Halo, Gears, Madden, etc.

Interesting. Is this fueled by the downloadable indie games, or are PC games like Witcher 2 and Hard Reset actually making big money? I am a PC gamer, but I don’t think I know a single other PC-exclusive gamer, even those that prefer the PC tend to have an XBox or PS3 or both. I also admit to missing Gears or Halo or Uncharted or Red Dead Redemption, but then again, the games I do get tend to fill my time just fine.

So, basically, I’m not quite sure how this is going to happen?

I think piracy is way over rated, people might download a video game and play it without paying but at the end of the day if the product is outstanding most people will often times go out and buy it after pirating it because its worth it.

Only people that lose out are the ones making ty games or software.

Plus I have never seen any actual statistic’s for piracy, often times I’m stuck reading about how Activision or who ever has reasons to believe its this and that without any evidence.

i think the new consoles by 2014 will give console $$ quite a boost, but PC gaming will alwayys continue to grow, even with piracy.

Nice one sided graph there, I’m sure PS3 and Xbox have graphs too that show consoles will still be beating pcs in the future. If your going to write an article like this at least be objective and look at both sides of the coin. Or just be a rapid fan boy on the forums, whatever works for you.
