Oblivion Expansion Shivering Isles Coming to PS3

oblivion-shivering-isles.jpg

There was doubt that the excellent Oblivion expansion Shivering Isles would ever make its way to the PlayStation 3. While PS3 owners who did pick up the game were treated to lots of extras only available to Xbox 360 gamers through the Xbox Live Marketplace, the biggest piece, Shivering Isles, was nowhere to be seen. Bethesda today announced plans to ship a standalone retail disc with Shivering Isles on it.

The disc is set for release on November 20, 2007. You’ll need to already own a copy of Oblivion for it to work, although the press release is unclear as to whether this will simply install the game on your hard drive or if you’ll need to boot up Oblivion before swapping discs. (Never thought you might have to do that, did you, PS3 owners?) The Shivering Isles retail disc for Xbox 360 costs $30, and that will presumably be the price point the PS3 disc is set at.
