Oculus Rift Breaks 100,000 Units Sold

The Oculus Rift has been sold to more than 100,000 customers.

Oculus VR announced these numbers today when it revealed that its Development Kit 2 headsets had sold more than 45,000 units. Added to the sales of the Development Kit 1 headsets, which the company revealed to be up to 60,000 in April, the headset overall has handily reached this notable sales milestone.

It’s a success that comes with no small piece of controversy. Setting aside the outrage many fans of the Oculus Rift felt at the news of Oculus VR’s purchase by Facebook, the company is, of course, still in the midst of a contentious legal battle with Zenimax over who did what work and how it helped it lead to the development of the Oculus Rift itself.
