Oculus Rift Gets Full Team Fortress 2 Support

Doom 3 will not be a part of the Oculus Rift’s launch package due to delays on its development, but Valve is coming to the rescue with the announcement that Team Fortress 2 will add support for the Oculus Rift this week.

The game’s new support will appear in the form of a “VR Mode”, accessible to owners of the Oculus Rift, the device’s developers have confirmed on their Kickstarter page.

In addition to the new mode, players who backed the Oculus Rift on Kickstarter will also receive a free hat shaped like the headset for use on their TF2 characters. The hat is available to anyone who either pre-ordered a dev kit from the project’s official website or backed the Kickstarter at any level.

The Oculus Rift’s implementation was made possible by engineers at Valve, one of whom has provided a video interview with Engadget about their work.
