OG Sony Hacker GeoHot Accepts Facebook’s Friend Request

Remember GeoHot? He’s the brainy kid who helped jailbreak the iPhone. He also rocketed to notoriety last fall when he hacked the Playstation 3′s root key. The last we heard, GeoHot, aKA George Hotz and Sony had settled out of court on undisclosed terms, and he was itching to move on with the next chapter of his life.

And so he has. According to Joshua Hill (AKA P0sixninja), a member of the group responsible for iOS jailbreaking software greenpois0n, GeoHot has declined to participate in an iPad 2 jailbreaking challenge. This was due, apparently, to a desire to maintain a low media profile, and to concentrate on his new job at Facebook. Hotz confirms his employment via a comment on his Facebook page, which proves that even Facebook employees spend too much time on Facebook when they should be working.

No solid word on what he’s doing for the company, but due to his colorful past, I propose one of the following 3 possibilities, none of which are true!

* He’s looking up ex-girlfriends and decided it would be more efficient to search at the source.
* He’s working on an ‘unlike’ button, so people who express their condolences solely via FB wall posts will stop complaining.
* He’s secretly working on a Facebook jailbreak that would allow people to import their crappy customizable MySpace profiles and ruin Facebook too.

So what do you all think he’s up to? Sound off in comments.
