Oh, Hey: There’s a Dr. Who MMO, and You Can Play It Right Now
Apparently, the BBC put together an MMO based on its highly popular reboot show, “Dr. Who.” Apparently that MMO is in public preview right now. That means, apparently, that you can play it right this second.
It’s called Dr. Who: Worlds in Time, and it’s a casual, free-to-play MMO from Sega-owned studio Three Rings. You can join up by hitting up DrWhoWIT.com. You’ll quickly slap together a character from one of four races, then jump straight into the action, where Dr. Who himself will dish out quests that you’ll need to complete with other players. There, you’ll explore locales from the show and deal with signature enemies: specifically, Daleks and Cybermen, and the creepiest of the creepy, the Weeping Angels.
The game launches commercially starting in the first quarter of 2012, and being free-to-play, it’ll run on microtransactions that sound like they’re similar to the kind of thing you’d see in games such as FarmVille. You’ll be able to buy items and implements that will accelerate your progress through the game.
