On Last Night’s Breaking Bad, Bethesda’s Rage Is A Rail Shooter.

This season of Breaking Bad, in addition to being just plain incredible, has been full of references to video games. A few episodes ago we saw a funny discussion of zombie games between two methheads, and last night’s episode began with co-protagonist Jesse Pinkman playing a weird rail shooter, using a light gun, that turned out to be Rage.

Yes, we know Rage isn’t actually a rail shooter, and that it doesn’t actually come out until October, which means that this season of Breaking Bad takes place in the future, but in an alternate dimension. Or maybe, struggling with drug addiction and extreme guilt over [SPOILER PLOT DETAILS WE WON’T DISCUSS} turns everything into a 90s arcade game. Even so, very clever marketing guys. But be careful. A lot of crazed methheads are going to be furious if they buy your game and find out it’s a First Person Shooter.

BTW, here’s what Rage actually looks like.

Weird and isn’t this supposed to still be set in 2008~ish around that time. Hence why they have the Dodge Charger in a few of the episodes to bring us back to that year?

As for the scene its awesome. I like the looking down the barrel of the gun compared to the last time we saw him look down the barrel of a gun.

Like I said, technically it’s in the future. Rage doesn’t come out for a few more weeks!

Well… the iOS version of Rage *is* a rails shooter (i.e. on iPad/iPod touch/iPhone) so it’s not that far-fetched.
