One to Watch: Raindrop
If Myst and Half-Life had a menage a trois with DayZ, the unexpected offspring would likely look a lot like Raindrop.
The promising indie project, a survival sim and an exploration-based puzzler in a sci-fi setting, started out as a Half-Life 2 total conversion. Now it’s a full-blown standalone being developed with Unity3D, and it’s all being created by a two men. Those two gentlemen would like to expand their team, and they’ve taken to Kickstarter seeking $144,000 to add developers to the project. See why I think this one is worth supporting in the Kickstarter pitch video below:
Pretty. Survival sims are rapidly becoming a sizable sub-genre, and it’s nice to see more devs stepping outside of the omnipresent zombie apocalypse setting.
It’s also nice to see Raindrop features a chunk of actual gameplay. Game Kickstarters too often ask potential contributors to imagine what the project will eventually look like. It’s clear the devs have already put a ton of blood, sweat, and time into this one.
