Online Multiplayer Coming Soon to Project Zomboid
You’re going to die in Project Zomboid, there’s no two ways around it. Soon, though, you’ll be able to go down bashing undead skulls with a few friends at your side.
In a post on the Project Zomboid blog, developer IndieStone announced that online multiplayer, with persistent player-run servers, is coming soon to the addictive, open world zombie survival sim. How soon? No definitive date just yet, but the devs say it’s “not far off” and “certainly not months away.”
No player counts yet, either, but in limited testing, IndieStone said they managed 12 players without a hitch. Also of note: multiplayer will be available in the form of split-screen co-op, so up to four players will be able to wade into the zombie horde together on the same machine. Potentially big news for those of you considering a Steam Machine for the living room.
