OnLive Launches Phone and Tablet App Today

OnLive has finally launched their long-awaited table and phone app that will let you play games from OnLive on the go or on the toilet or wherever you want, really. The app is already up in the Android Market, if you have an approved device, and I know that because our bro with the Samsung Galaxy Tab is already playing with it. You’ll want to give it a go, too, as everyone who downloads the app on an Android device gets Lego Batman for free, although we haven’t yet figured out how that works.

We’re still waiting for it to hit iTunes, but we expect that you’ll be downloading and playing in just a few short hours. And then freedom will be yours for all time.

Right now you’ll have to be happy with touch controls, because the new wireless controller that is supposed to work with mobile devices hasn’t been released yet. But OnLive expects to be selling those in just a few days.

“gets Lego Batman for free, although we haven’t yet figured out how that works.”

This? -> “In wake of this announcement, OnLive will be giving LEGO: Batman to gamers for free, just for downloading the OnLive app. LEGO Batman will be automatically added to a user’s ‘My Games’ list within 24 hours of connecting to the OnLive Game Service from the OnLive app for Android (or iPad when available).”

I might be excited if they explained what OnLive does other than it lets you play games on the toilet. We’re not all up to speed and a brief recap would be nice.
