OnLive Pre-Registrants Get More Goodies
One of the more interesting ideas to come along of late is OnLive. Set to launch at E3 this year, OnLive allows gamers to access games through a streaming service to their TV, PC , or Mac.
If you’ve been following OnLive, you may be one of those gamers who has already pre-registered to use the service when it launches June 17. If so, you should be checking your email. It looks like OnLive is offering up a nice addition to your initial pre-registration deal.
Originally, OnLive promised that the first 25,000 registered user would get to use the service for three months free. Now, Big Download is reporting that they’ve received an email that tells them they’re eligible for a full year of free service with no further obligation after that year ends.
Not only that, but they’re throwing in a coupon that allow each pre-registered user to get one free game on the service. Apparently, you’ll need to register by June 3 (that’s Thursday) to take advantage of the updated offer. If you haven’t pre-registered yet, it looks like you’ve missed out, as the offer appears to be closed to new registrants.
Personally, I’ve long been skeptical of the service. After all, the technical limitations of such a platform are apparent to anyone. However, I have heard some good reports from beta testers using the service, so I guess we’ll all find out once it goes live in a couple of weeks.
