Original X-Com Creator Calls XCOM “Addictive and Absorbing”

Microprose and Julian Gollop originally created X-Com, but Firaxis and lead designer Jake Solomon are responsible for the latest game in series, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Did Firaxis do X-Com justice? Gollop believes so.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Gollop said:

“I think Firaxis has done a great job… The game is addictive and absorbing, not to mention quite challenging on the classic difficulty setting.”

For Solomon, this was praise from Caesar. He said:

“That’s good, man. The guy’s a legend. It’s a weird situation. You know he’s still out there, you know he’s going to end up playing it – and you just admire the guy so much.”

Well done, Firaxis. I loved XCOM:EU.

You have a “the” in that headline that shouldn’t be there, let me fix it for ya: “Original X-Com Creator offered nice chunk of cash to call market failure XCOM “Addictive and Absorbing”.

If you bothered to even read the original article the creator also pointed out some of the glaring flaws of the remake which totally invalidates your statement.

@ psycros – The game got pretty much got nothing but good reviews. So I’m not really sure where you get the idea that the game was a failure. In any case, here’s a thought, maybe the original creator really DID think the game was “Addictive and Absorbing”. Just because someone says something nice about a game you obviously don’t like, doesn’t mean they were paid off.

I think the game was amazing on release, a little too buggy for my taste but vary well done, I think the modding scene and future dlc could really expand on the future of the title.
