Ouya Co-Founder Muffi Ghadiali Exits Company
Ouya Co-Founder Muffi Ghadiali, who also served as a designer and project manger, has left the company. TechCrunch dropped the story, and the departure has been confirmed by Ouya.
Ouya is focusing more on the next phase of the business and product development. We’ve made some recent changes including the departure of Muffi Ghadiali who was invaluable during the launch of Ouya. As is to be expected, Ouya is an ever-changing business, and as we continue to grow our needs shift accordingly.
Ghadiali leaves Ouya at a tumultuous time for the company. The Android-powered console hasn’t exactly been an industry darling, from weak sales to allegations of Kickstarter fixing. The Ouya also exists in an ever-expanding indie console scene, with competition coming from the likes of MadCatz and Nvidia. Things aren’t very bright on the software side, either, as TowerFall Ascension, by far the Ouya’s most successful game, is coming to the PS4 and PC in 2014.
The future seems murky for Ouya at the moment, but with the Ouya 2 announced, maybe the…next-gen Ouya (never thought I’d say that phrase) could be the light at the end of the tunnel.
