Oxeye: Cobalt “Won’t Be a Duke Nukem Forever Story”

At the Mojang panel tonight at Minecon one of the Oxeye developers (their names are all really hard to spell) on the side-scrolling actioner Cobalt described the game’s development process, saying that they’ve just kinda gone with what felt right at any particular moment, and thus the game has changed a lot in the year an a half in which they’ve been developing it.

But it “won’t be a Duke Nukem Forever story,” he said. Cobalt will be released, at least in alpha form, anywhere between two and six months from now. You will get to play the game before you have kids and your kids have kids. The wait won’t be too horrible, and it won’t turn out to be the occasionally painful mishmash of ideas that DNF was.

So there.
