Torchlight 2 Release Date: “Optimistically” One Month After Diablo 3
According to Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer, Torchlight 2 will be released shortly after Diablo 3, with aims for a month after the diabolic sequel.
Speak at PAX in an interview with Joystiq, Schaefer expressed that he doesn’t want to release his sequel alongside Diablo 3:
“Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed Diablo has announced a date. So, we don’t want to fall right on that. The real answer is when [Torchlight 2] is finished, is Diablo 3 right now? Then we’ll wait.”
Schaefer stated an optimistic launch window of one month after Diablo 3, and hyped the Torchlight 2 features that are absent from Diablo 3: offline mode, modding, and LAN support. He went on to reassure fans that everything is going according to plan:
“Be patient. Our total development time on this game is going to be about two years, which is not unreasonably long for this type of game. We’re going as fast as we can. It’ll be worth the wait, it’ll totally be worth the wait. In the long run, people will be happy we took this extra time.”
