With the first episode in the Penny Arcade Adventures series release last week, the guys at Penny Arcade have seen some terrific success for their first attempt at a videogame. Mike “Gabe” Krahulik revealed on the Penny Arcade blog that the game ranks third all-time for Xbox Live Arcade launches, selling 16.5k copies in the first three days, trailing only Rez and Ikaruga (25k and 22.5k, respectively), and just ahead of N+ (13k). That’s some mighty impressive company.
Considering that the game was also released on PC and has the highest price tag of any game released to date on XBLA, this is either a testament to Xbox 360 owners’ desire for an RPG or the very dedicated fanbase that PA has amassed over the years.
Either way, congrats to Mike and Jerry (along with everyone else at PA and Hothead) on a successful debut in the development world.
