People Can Steal Stuff You Buy With Real Money in H1Z1 (VIDEO)

Like other survival games and MMOs, Sony Online Entertainment’s H1Z1 will allow you to buy in-game equipment with real money.

Unlike those games, however, you won’t just suddenly have that equipment appear on your character. Instead, it’ll come your way by airdrop from outside the zombie-infested town and wilderness in which H1Z1 takes place.

And like all your stuff in H1Z1, anybody can steal your airdropped goods if they can manage to do so.

It’s a little tidbit revealed during SOE Live 2014, Sony’s exposition of its online MMO titles taking place this week in Las Vegas. Our James Heaney was on the scene and spoke with Producer Steve George and Senior Game Designer Jimmy Whisenhunt about other H1Z1 details, like the ability for SOE to roll out alternate servers that might not even include zombies, to give players different takes on the survival game the developer is building.

That seems like a bad idea. If I’m specifically paying for something, I expect to get it. While I don’t pay for things like this in the first place, I certainly wouldn’t do so knowing that I might not get what I paid for.

This is a classic mistake. I’ve seen other games do the same and it always eventually gets removed.

I’m with you two, this sounds like a terrible idea.

WarZ or Survivor Stories or whatever it’s called now tried and we all know how that ended.
