Permabans Given to Guild Wars 2 Snowflake Exploiters

There is some good news and bad news for those who are enjoying Guild Wars 2. The good news is that the Wintersday event went off without (relatively) a hitch, and there were plenty of activities to whet the appetite of those who love to celebrate winter. The bad news is that if you used an exploit that became known during Wintersday to craft ridiculous amounts of Ectoplasm, you are getting banned. No exceptions, no appeals.

This is not that big of a surprise, even if it is a bummer for those that were banned. ArenaNet has issued out bans for economy exploitation in the past, and this exploit had the potential to break the backbone of the Guild Wars 2 economy thanks to a potential flood of ectoplasm. It also serves as a very potent warning: if you find something you think is an exploit – and you want to keep playing Guild Wars 2 – then for love of your account do not continue to use that exploit. ArenaNet will not be putting up with it.

Quite right Mike, Arena Net gave ample warning that if anyone actively abused temporary exploits they would get a ban.

They deserved what they got, they should consider it a life lesson.
