Persona 5 Confirmed for PS4

Persona 5 has been confirmed for PlayStation 4.

Atlus confirmed the new version of the game this morning in a pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference. The reveal was coupled with the release of a new trailer showcasing animated footage of a bespectacled male character (possibly the protagonist?) riding a train and then walking through a crowded city street. It ends with the PS4 reveal, text promising a 2014 release and a final image of blue fire igniting in the middle of a crowd.

Persona 5 was, of course, originally announced back in 2011 with director Katsura Hashino at the helm. It was later confirmed to be coming exclusively to PS3. The announcement of a PS4 version, in turn, could come in handy for Sony which has had some trouble selling the new console in Japan due to a lack of games geared toward audiences in that region. A new Persona title, even one available on both PS3 and PS4, could, in turn, be just what the doctor ordered.
