Peter Moore Says Five Million People Are Using Origin Daily

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Peter Moore let loose with a factoid that sounds less like the truth and more like an exaggeration.

We’re only four and a half months in and already over five million people are using it on a daily basis.

The reason I don’t believe this is strictly true is because I don’t know what people would be doing with it right now. It’ll be different after Battlefield 3 launches, but right now there’s nothing there for people to be using every day. Are they counting people who just run Origin every day? Origin is open on my computer but I haven’t used it in a while.

I think a lot of people set it to run on startup.

Which of course would skew the figures.

Peter Moore does not truly care about the PC as a gaming platform. When I can get Madden on PC, then I will change my thinking on this matter.

“Origin is open on my computer but I haven’t used it in a while.”

Its using you regardless of you using it.

Peter Moore should have said…
“We’re only four and a half months in and already Origin is data-mining over five million people that have it running on a daily basis.

And who can we contact to change that logo’s slogan?
It should read “Origin powered by Amazon Web Services, Digital River, Salesforce, and EA.’ because those are the places it connects to.
