If you’ve ever looked through the more kid-friendly rack of DS games at your favorite local game retailer, you’ve probably come across the Petz games. Among the many of them are Catz, Hamsterz Life, Dogz, Horsez, and so on. I actually remember playing the original Dogz on PC many years ago, which is why I’m shocked these games are still alive. But I suppose the children do love their virtual pets.
Hence, why Ubisoft has acquired the developer of these titles, Digital Kids. Ubisoft has always been the publisher, but will be bringing Digital Kids in closer to the Ubisoft family. You can’t blame them, as these types of casual games do sell insanely well, especially on the DS.
“When it comes to Nintendo DS games, Digital Kids has demonstrated a leading knowledge that has resulted in creative animal simulation titles that appeal to Japanese and Western audiences alike, which is quite rare,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “This acquisition attests to Ubisoft’s capacity to establish successful partnerships in new territories and reinforces its advance on casual games.”
So worry not, Petz fanz, as you’ll have more inexplicable games featuring hamsters that talk to you coming.

I am getting a nintendo ds next week … I have no clue what game to pick …. I have to pick between of 3 of my favorites! … the game catz , hamsterz, or animal crossing …. ^^^^^Ann … what is that hamsterz game like ??? .can you take them for a walk like nintendogs …. find gifts and breed them like horses 2?

Get Animal Crossings or Hamsterz- anything but catz! Catz is just a waste of money.
