Pillars of Eternity Character Sheet is RPG Stats Gold
Full disclosure: I am not objective about this.
I’m a backer and I’m unabashedly giddy over Obsidian’s Kickstarted old-school RPG, Pillars of Eternity. Not one to let a little thing like professionalism get in my way, I’m going to gush about the latest bit of info to come out of Obsidian.
At first glance, it’s a simple screenshot, but upon closer inspection, we see the type of in-depth, tabletop-like character sheet that suggests Obsidian has no intention of “streamlining” any of Pillars of Eternity’s hardcore RPG mechanics. See for yourself below:
Eurogamer spotted the screenshot in the latest Pillars of Eternity update from the devs, and seeing standards like Stam, Hlth, and Acc alongside Mig, Con, Int, Res, and Reputations gets my nerd blood pumping. My favorite part of this character sheet? These are the “Basic Stats.” Imagine all the dice-rolling goodies that await in “Detailed Stats!”
Like I said, giddy.
As for the progress of Pillars as a whole, it remains on track for its winter 2014 launch. The devs note that the “mega dungeon” is done, the majority of spells and abilities are now in-game, the UI is nearly complete, and the final areas of the game are now being put together.
Can’t wait. But you knew that already.
