Ping! Supposedly Leaked Alien: Isolation Screens Tracked

Aliens: Colonial Marines is an unpolished turd of a shooter that spits corrosive acid all over the beloved sci-fi/horror films it’s based on.

Unfortunately, it marks a trend of forgettable Alien games published by Sega, and at this point I want the big blue hedgehog to just STAHP already.

Unfortunately, as we learned back in May 2011, Sega has no plans to release its face-hugger grip on the franchise. For better or worse, Creative Assembly, they of Total War fame, have been working on an Alien game for the past few years, and various recent reports have come together to provide a clearer picture of what that project will actually be. Today, we get a handful of new supposedly leaked screenshots for what the rumor mill says is a survival/horror adventure called Alien: Isolation.

You might recall a similar leak of cover and concept art last week that appeared to prove Alien: Isolation is real. The latest pics were posted on Twitter last night by @lifelower with no word on where they came from, but they certainly look suitably Alien. Below, the first two pieces of art are from the original leak followed by the four new screens that appear to show off very original-Alien-movie-like environments:

For the record, Sega has taken the “we do not comment on rumors and speculation” stance on Alien: Isolation up to this point.

I don’t think this is going to work.

Key to a good horror game is that there must be a sense of unknown. If Dead Space had been an Alien game for example, a lot of the tension in that game would have been lost.

The fact is that over the past 2.5 decades we’ve been exposed to the creature of Alien too much for it to be scary anymore.

Also that they’re making the protagonist Ripley’s daughter really bugs me.

As I’ve said before, I want a game where you boringly hardcore real-time play as Newt surviving until the marines arrive. This seems to apparently come close, at least in the title… So I’d blindedly take it.
