Planetary Annihilation Beta Begins Sept. 26

Didn’t want to shell out $90 on Steam to get into the Planetary Annihilation alpha? Can’t say I blame you. Go through Steam’s sales on any given day and you can put together a sizable bundle worth of games for the same cost. Gotta admit, though, I was tempted. Uber Entertainment’s (Super Monday Night Combat) Total Annihilation-inspired strategy game looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to make the┬ásolar system my resource-gathering, unit-building, enemy-battling playground. We’ll all be able to do just that for the much more reasonable price of $60 when the Planetary Annihilation beta begins on September 26.

Posting on the official Planetary Annihilation site, Uber made the beta launch announcement with a boisterous proclamation: “Beta starts on September 26, 2013.”

If you want in on the 26th, grab the $60 Planetary Annihilation beta package on Uber’s official store. If you’d rather wait for the full launch and save $20 in the process, grab the $40 Planetary Annihilation combat package, and start playing in December.

I don’t think I’ll be able to wait that long.

The whole “tiny planet” thing kills it for me. I thought that was just for effect in the trailer. I can’t believe their actually going to make the game that cartoony and ridiculous. This is not the TA successor we were hoping for.
